Low pressure in Baja. Strong wind from east, blowing down at Crestline, 3 to 5 plus, growing. Went to UM, launched just before smog hit. Worked thermals, but couldn't get high. Hit sheer above LM. GOT THROWN AROUND RADICALLY. Hung around long time, trying to work it. Poor landing (one tip touched) after 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Finally a good day! Flew without a vario and didn't miss it, climbed above launch and went to Billboard, got way up four or five times on strong thermals, then slowly sank down, then back up again. Made a closer approach to avoid landing at front edge of LZ, overshot target by 40 feet or so, running four or five steps.

Good launch @ 1:05 PM. No lift anywhere near ridge. Did 2 nice wingovers then went for U. Marshall. Sink sent me to LM instead. Scratched a little, landed @ 1:20 PM

Good launch (a little slow)@ 2:27 -> too light for me to soar at all. Got a little lower than usual before heading out -> well below the top of LM when I got there and no significant lift there either. Made a very quick approach to help keep traffic flowing smoothly -> started final glide about 30-40 yds farther back than usual -> landed just short of the middle of the LZ (@ 2:50)
