Post S.A. winds, 0-3@ CRS, 12:10 PM. Good. No ASI. Steeper thermalling req'd some high siding. Seemed to still stick in turns just a tad. Was able to spin the glider with relative ease. Nose dropped fast during spins! Still a good flying wing. Could NOT turn w/full arm extended mush.

Conincidentally, I flew my old Dream 185 for the first time in years last weekend. I learned on the Dream in 1985, and flew it (monthly to bimonthly) for about 6 years. I kept it for taking people to the training hill. It flew okay, but the pitch pressure is really high, especially compared to current gliders. The roll was somewhat heavy as well. Landing it was pretty easy. Overall the performance was somewhat less than a Falcon, and the handling was very truck-like.

A single surface glider is great fun, and very good for getting back into the sport. Current gliders fly much much better than those old things. IF your Dream has been stored clean and dry it might be good to take a few mellow refresher flights with, but you'd be happier getting something newer. Delta Wing is long since out of business, but a couple of outfits had rights to the design and have made versions of the Dream, though I don't think anyone is at this time.

Great! Almost sank out at start, then got to 6200+ MSL later, cloudbase 6100 MSL (!) Used drogue for TL approach. Got 300 up and back 45 degrees from top, deployed drogue and dove! Sweet.
